    CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL CODER – Towson, MD

    Working in the corporate office and reporting to the Billing Manager, the Medical Coder serves an integral function within our revenue cycle management.

    Responsibilities

    • Assists with auditing medical records to determine if billing reflects the care documented.
    • Provides in-house consultation and training to staff and providers on current coding requirements and regulations.
    • Works closely with our outsourced RCM group for all billing issues and workflow enhancement impacting billing.
    • Serves as a clinical coding subject matter expert, and utilizes critical thinking to analyze and evaluate documentation issues with consultation from the medical and clinical staff.
    • Ensures compliance with health plan, federal and state regulations.
    • Monitors all tasking, issues and denials related to billing and coding.
    • Modifies coding post claim denials and identifies trends.
    • Serves as a member of the project team for workflow improvement/enhancement and/or system upgrades.

    Qualifications

    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
    • 2-3 years outpatient coding in a multi-specialty healthcare setting.
    • Experience with Population Health strongly preferred.
    • Must have working knowledge of the revenue cycle function.
    • Experience and skills with training staff and providers in the areas described above.
